Bottle Use & MaintenanceUpdated 6 days ago

Please find the article below for details on cleaning and maintaining your Bartesian spirit bottles. If you need assistance with your spirit bottles, please reach out to our customer care team via bartesian.com/care.

The bottles are housed upside down which causes gravity to take effect on the liquid, so it is normal to see some liquid in the spirit wells. Any spirit in the well will be utilized by the machine when making a cocktail.

Alcohols, especially whiskey and dark rum, contain sugars and other additives that may build up in small amounts if allowed to sit for extended periods of time. Leaks can be caused by this buildup in the lid or the duckbill valve of the bottle. We have some troubleshooting steps below that may resolve this, and keep the issue from reoccurring.

Correct Assembly

The bottle assembly contains 3 pieces: the lid, duckbill valve, and bottle. Making sure these are properly installed will prevent leaks. The duckbill valve should fit snugly onto the lid valve, as shown here:

When securing the lid onto the bottle, please be sure the lid is screwed properly in. If the lid top is not flush with the top of the bottle, the liquid may leak out:

If any of these pieces are not fitting together or appear damaged, please reach out via the link provided at the top of this article.

Make sure the assembled bottles are inserted firmly into the spirit ports to ensure no leaks and proper dispensing of the cocktail.

Cleaning

Keeping the bottle, lid, and valve clean will prevent the buildup of sugars and additives. The lid and bottle can be washed in the dishwasher, or by hand with warm water and soap.

To clean the duckbill valve, remove it from the lid, and use soap and warm water. Run it under the faucet while squeezing the sides to open the valve in order to rinse and flush out the valve, as shown below:

Dry all parts and reassemble when ready. We do recommend cleaning the lids/valve at least bi-weekly, especially for the whiskey and dark rum bottles.

If you’d like to take this time to clean/descale the rest of the Bartesian, we recommend checking out pages 11-12 of the Bartesian user guide, linked here.
